The Godfather of Soul Dies At 73

March 29, 2023 by Jasper

James Brown.jpgAnd the world is poorer for his loss yet better for having had him for the short time that he was with us. James Brown was a legend indeed.

James Brown’s music inspired many a rapper and hip hop artist. He paved the way for the likes of Michael Jackson and Prince. He was a lively, energetic man until the day he passed away. He truly was performing almost to the last day of his life. Not even being ill got him down. Even as he entered the hospital this past Saturday, he was planning a New Year’s performance.

The godfather of soul, as James Brown called himself in his autobiography, was brought to the Emory Crawford Long Hospital with pneumonia Saturday. He passed away of heart failure at around 1:45 am on Christmas Day.

James Brown will always be remembered in his music. He really got all of us with his unique funky sound exactly as his song “I Got You (I Feel Good)” says.
