Chanel West Hollywood Store

Attention shopaholics there’s a new store to check out in Hollywood!

The newest Chanel store is set to open this Friday, May 30, at Robertson Boulevard in West hollywood. The new store would is uniquely packaged compared to other Chanel stores in that it is like a mini-Chanel store. This makes it blend in with the quaint look of the other boutiques located in Robertson Boulevard. Robertson is after all known for its indie boutiques.

The Channel “mini-store” is actually a 5000 plus square foot two-storey building done in the classic black and white Chanel is known for. Clearly the store is not a mini-store for the size but because it will feature only select pieces of this season’s collection. It will showcase the best of this season’s pieces from jewelry to nail polish, and of course ready-to-wear clothes.

As if this is a good thing. I see nothing in this article regarding the uphill battle the residents of this neighborhood have been fighting for a year and 1/2 against the construction company building this place (and the new Ralph Lauren 2 doors down), and all the laws they’re breaking.
For over a year, I (along w/ every neighbor on this street, who share an alleyway with Robertson) have been woken up at 5am to the sound of drills, cranes, cement trucks, hammering, drilling, etc…and the noise does not cease till 11pm or later, leaving a mere 6 hours of quiet time for residents. (LA law dictates no construction is allowed between 7pm and 7am, and NONE on Sundays).
Every time a neighbor calls the cops, nothing happens. I wonder how many bribes Chanel and Ralph Lauren have paid out to run illegal building sites for over a year at the expense of an entire neighborhood?

Uhoh…A perfectly good point. This is the side non-residents like me often fail to see… All we tend to see is the great new places to see and shops to cater to varied tastes. I wonder though if the original “Hollywood” people hated the the hustle and bustle associated with the Hollywood Real estate people. I do wonder too about construction that’s allowed to go on beyond the said time. I can completely commiserate with that having had to go through several week of hearing a jack hammer tear apart the top floor of our apartment building till about 9pm (and this is just 9pm!) because the owner wanted to add new units!
